For starters Scott, thanks for the immediate reply. ;-)

But as i said
i have scanned the web in order to find how i can build my own pfsense
system  but everywhere i have stumbled there was a warning "for
outdated documentation".

What i was really asking
,due to that i only have to make only a minor change at pfsense's
kernel make file,
are there any simple steps so i can create the image file i want ?
eg

1)  download developers iso (is this the prefered method for building
a "pfsense
    development system" ?)
2)  run "cvsup script" to sync with the latest sources
3) change the kernel Makefile (This is the only change i want to do )
4) run "compile everyhting / build embedded  image" script

and if this is not the way, are there  any recomendations  on docs to
read, in order to start  learning about the build procees of pfsense?
