This will be a feature of 1.3 (like the dashboard) as well. However we
are using our own implementation, not the one m0n0 has.

Since this question is coming up now, I thought I'd elaborate a little
bit on what people can expect out of this feature. The company I work
for is one of two who has sponsored this feature and I wrote the
specification that Bill is working off of.
The user manager code that was in -HEAD has been backported to RELENG_1
and will be in the 1.3 release of pfSense. In addition to providing
basic user management, group membership and granting of management
rights, this code will also tie into an LDAP, Active Directory or
eDirectory back-end for the purposes of central user management.
This will provide functionality like, members of the administrator group
in your Active Directory tree can also be granted administrative rights
over your pfSense firewall(s). Alternatively, certain administrators
can be granted rights to administer only portions of the firewall,
adding new VPN users for instance.
As I said, this is all still in-progress and will be a work-in-progress
for awhile. Please do not fold, spindle or mutilate the developers
about this feature while its still in its inception. Just appreciate
that this is one of the myriad great things coming to pfSense this year
and appreciate the hard work that folks like Bill, Scott, Holger, Daniel
and others are doing.
