Greetings list,
I've seen quite a few posts over recent weeks recommending people install later versions
than the "official" 1.0.1 version. I need to prepare a couple of Soekris boxes
with pfSense - these boxes will be at remote sites which I won't be visiting regularly,
so they're unlikely to be upgraded very regularly (I assume updating embedded with the
WebUI is still not an option?).
What version would people recommend I install on these boxes? 1.0.1 or one of
the later snapshots?
I agree with Holger to use 1.2, even beta, with one exception. If you're
going to use wireless, wireless in 1.0.1 may be more stable than that in
1.2. A few people have reported wireless issues with 1.2 that didn't
happen with 1.0, it's possible there's been a regression in wireless
functionality from FreeBSD 6.1 to 6.2. But we can't replicate the
problem so we're not sure at this point. Aside from that, 1.2 beta is
widely used and there are no other known regressions and loads less bugs
than in 1.0.
