At our site we have a pfSense box to manage the network and to act as an OpenVPN Server for our road warriors and/or systems we deploy at costumers, so that we can easily can give remote support. Also, we needed to make an OpenVPN connection to a remote network, let's call it, site X (so that everyone at my site can access the other's site lan). I noticed I couldn't use the same box for this, because there was only ONE tun device, and it would be used for whatever service (the openvpn server or the client deamon trying to connect to site X) started first. If I enable the openvpn server, the connection is made to site X from this box to site X is lost, but if I enable the client site X connection, my vpn server dies (if I do an ifconfig, only one of this two services is using the tun0 interface). Althrough this is not a problem to me (having a pfsense box exclusivelly to make outgoing connections), I would like to know if this is standard behave or if there is a fix...

Best Regards
