Hi All,
I use pfSense to run a DSL Internet connection. I have a DSL modem
running in bridged mode plugged into the WAN interface on my pfSense
box (a WRAP).
The WAN interface is configured in pfSense to connect using PPPoE
through the modem to the ISP. This works flawlessly, all the time. All
good so far.
However, the modem also has a web interface that can be used to query
'DSL stuff' (line conditions, SNR etc). To access this, the Ethernet
port on the modem is also assigned an IP address and if you point a
browser at that IP you can log into the web interface. This works even
when the modem is bridging PPPoE traffic. (Still haven't quite got my
head around that but that's a question for another time... :-)
My question today is whether it is possible to create a 'local' subnet
accessed through the WAN interface. I looked at using static routing to
do this but the only WAN interface visible is the bridged PPPoE
connection. I can't see the physical WAN interface to configure it or to
tie a static route to it.
Is this possible? Can anyone suggest a suitable solution?
Happy to provide further information etc...
Cheers,
David.
