Greetings.
1.2-RELEASE built on Sun Feb 24 17:04:58 EST 2008
VIA C3 Samuel 2 800 MHz
512 MB system RAM (16 taken by the ^%$%^ built-on AGP video chipset)
40 gigs HD space (spare laptop drive from a dead iBook)
Current 'router/firewall' device: WRT54G V2.1 running DD-WRT v23sp2
My questions:
- Static ARP: Is it possible to set it up for some IP's without starting
the built-in DHCPD? I already have a pair of redundant DHCP servers set
up on the network, so I really don't want to replace them with a single
DHCP server that doesn't have fail over. I have found one way, but that
requires hacking the config.xml and adding a bunch of <shellcmd> lines
with arp -S. This is a less-than-optimal way doing it IMO, and figured
there must be A Better Way(tm).
- Port redirection: Is it possible to redirect ports from a single IP to
another machine while changing to ports? What I have is a very smart
daughter who has a habit of clicking like a crack monkey on just about
anything that appears on her web browser. This has, obviously, led to
some questionable web pages. Currently, I have all of her http traffic
being redirected to the web filter (which is running on a VM on the
house server) via a few PREROUTING and DNAT commands to iptables. If at
all possible, I don't want to change anything on her machine as she
takes it with her when visiting relatives.
- Aliases: I see that the alias panel can do port ranges (Port ranges
can be expressed by separating with a colon), but not IP ranges. Is
there a way to put a range of IP's without having to enter them one by
one? In my case, I'm after 1 - 31 and 66-69.
(I'll worry about the VPN later once I have the machine in full production)
If the answers are out there already, then please point me in the right
direction. I've googled, but at times, my google-foo is weak. Thank you!
