I did some testing with this today, and here is what I saw.

First:
* I created two new yahoo accounts: suprdex and dexsupr
* I added suprdex to my pidgin account on computer 1
* I added dexsupr to my pidgin account on computer 2

Then I performed the following actions listed below, and some relevant debug entries that were given as a response.

user     :  Actions
--------------------------------
suprdex: Added dexsupr
dexsupr: Received "Authorization request from suprdex"
dexsupr: Granted Authorization to suprdex
dexsupr: Added suprdex
dexsupr: suprdex appears online
suprdex: dexsupr remains offline (not on server list)
suprdex: Added dexsupr to buddy list again
suprdex: Now has two dexsupr buddies (oops!)
suprdex: Logged off
suprdex: Logged on

Weird... ended up working after adding and removing on the user who first requested authorization.  Authorization was automatically given to the requestee, and the requester immediately appeared online.  Though there are still some strange messages above too.

I'd be interested in seeing if the above tactic works for others who are experiencing the issue as well.
