We also used to get a lot from Olark. I assume they improved communication with their contractors (as I believe they still use, or at least offer, Pidgin). I think it's because Oracle a) uses Pidgin as official policy, and b) does not provide good guidance or tech support to their users. I don't think it's any sort of complicated scenario.
