I'm going to go out on a limb and express an opinion on something I haven't
tried, which is the 3diosound binaural microphone.
http://www.3diosound.com/

That microphone is missing an important part of a binaural microphone, which is
the head itself. The physical presence of the head is probably more important
than the ears are, since its dimensions determine the magnitude of the ITDs
that
the recordings will contain.

And, no, you can't make ambisonic recordings with a binaural microphone. At
least not directly.

Subject: [Sursound] what mics do you use?

Can you make ambisonic mixes with this: 3diosound.com?

It's much cheaper than http://www.core-sound.com/TetraMic/1.php.
