I have a question about putting surround on the Internet.
Apart from needing the right browser to hear anything, if one uses WAV files, no problem (apparently); but if one is using FLAC or OGG it seems to me that there are potential level and phase problems unless the channels are all compressed the same. Is it in fact possible to avoid these problems? Is it better to convert to FLAC/OGG from a multichannel interleaved WAV file, or does it work just as well (badly) if the files are converted before interleaving? The reason I ask is that I always work with mono files, but am able to combine them, and it would seem that some kind of compression is needed for even 4.0 on the current Internet.
