Hi Stefan/list. The announcement is from the flyer for the event -
it's not intended as anything more. As I mentioned, the system used
for the spatialisation is TiMax, not Ambisonics at all
(http://www.outboard.co.uk/pages/timax.htm)

"Well, if you say so... and what if the musicians have a bad day, or
the technical equiment will break or burn down? :-D :-[

Everybody keeps telling that things have to be < totally > < immersive
>. Hopefully this project/concert is not just about technique, but
even about some music (which might be involving or < immersive > per
se, but maybe doesn't matter so much in the context of this
technological project.)"

errm. Of course, if the building burns down, it will be a very
different event! However, the focus of this work is the artistic
final result, rather than the technical means of getting there
(although that is important too, in order for the system to actually
work!)

"But why not after the show?"

I'm afraid this is due to various logistical reasons. Better before
than not at all, though?

"I don't want to mock anybody involved in this project, of course.
However, the style of the posted announcement doesn't look very much
related to art or music. Probably this was not the intention. But
still..."

Sorry, but I did think this show would be interesting and relevant to
this list as an example of where Surround Sound is being used in a
live context in a commercial theatre, rather than an academic lab
(along with the various challenges that go with that). Apologies if
it isn't.

cheers
