What folks have to remember here is that every isp does not use the same
version of the pop3 daemon, and some of them don't even use the same
company who wrote their pop3 daemon. As a result, some isps will support
different sets of commands than others. So, while some will support the
get new mail and delete only read messages, others will not. This has
nothing at all to do with the client retrieving the mail, whether it be
nettamer, ka9q, netscape, or something entirely different. If your client
doesn't support the features you want on your isp but it does on others,
drop a line to your isp and ask them to upgrade their pop3 server.
