IBM sold Warp3 for 7-20 USD when Warp4 was released. It was also distributed with 
various magazines.

Solaris can be had for some 40 USD. (Or less)

Linux (5 cd+ a manual) is some 70 USD (99 DEM for SUSE-Linux)

DR-DOS....

MS certainly is to greedy.
