Well, you may have to do that for one go-round; after that, I'd suggest
registering the "live ones" at <http://minder.netmind.com>. Their free
"Mind-It" service will send you an email whenever the page changes or dies.
It's super-helpful to me!
One other idea; email! There's a whole science of accessing the Internet by
email, and most services are available in that fashion.
Go to <http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/1236/servers.html>
which lists the various servers which provide these services, esp. the
GetWeb, Agora, WWW4Mail, and W3mail servers, which will fetch web pages. A
sample request would go like this;
TO: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
SUBJECT: (anything or nothing)
------------Message Text------------
send http://www.afn.org
send http://www.microsoft.com
send http://www.simtel.net/simtel.net/
and you'll get a reply back with the text of the page. I do recommend that
you read the other info at the site, and send a "HELP" request to the
server(s) you plan to use if you go that route.
