The LFN API is implemented under Windows NT 3.5 and above (NT 3.1? Hmmm) by
the shell (EXPLORER.EXE in Win9x, SHELL32.DLL(?) in NT) as a set of extended
INT 21h calls (Find First/Find Next (LFN) in the List IIRC). LFNs under VFAT
are stored in the unused/reserved fields of the standard FAT directory entry,
using various bits to indicate the number of the next entry in the :LFN's
chain. The full (-ish) specs are on my HDD somewhere from my Linux
installation - if you want I can e-mail them.
