The easiest way is to have your friend save the file in .DBF format.
PCFile can read it easily - and he can read any changes you make
into MSWORKS by importing the .dbf.
( MSWORKS can save in lots of formats, including STANDARD dBase III).
Why don't people just use STANDARD formats, anyway ?  Create it in
whatever MS GUI-gizmo you want, but save it in something everyone
can read...
