ROT could be either Really OT or Rather OT, you'll be the judge. >> I even think that swedish law says that I can't save a file for more than 5 >> years or something equaly stupid ;) >> (Or atleast this was the case a few years back) > >Do you mean, that if you create a file you are not allowed to keep >it for more then 5 years? o_O >If yes, this, is the WEIRDEST computer law I have ever heard of. Yes, I can't save information that has been stored in a file for more then 5 years (or some other number, I don't remember). I doub't that anyone actually cares about this law. So I guess running M$-DOS 6.x is illegeal in Sweden - I have to upgrade. ;) This law was made somewhere in the 70's and I think it was changed a few years back. Perhaps DOS users where protesting? ;) > >Well, thats after another swidish law I heard of which do >not allow the mentioning of people's names in sites without their >permission, and the religious law that some rabi once wrote >to his followers, that they may not pick their nose in saterday, as >it is concidered to be "working". <sigh> Hmm, there aren't that many Rabis in this part of the world. I would guess they where closer to you then me. There aren't any religous laws here, other than the king (or queen) must be a protestant (sp?) christian. And that noone should be discriminated for there religios believes. Sounds rather strange together don't they, the king/queen shouldn't be discriminated should he/she. Well the royal family can't vote so that's not the only place where they aren't equal. (Or maybe they just choose not to vote? I'm not sure) (A very nice thing this discrimination law as opposed to some other countries - not that I want to start a flame war about ex. Israel here, or anywhere else for that matter). However there is a "law" that the European Union has made that forbids all mention of peoples names in any digital form except when journalists/artists use it. I feel that homepages are made by "artists" so there shouldn't be any problem. The idea is rather good since I don't want anyone to start a page which describes delibretly false things about me, the outcome isn't that good. One of the politcal opposition leaders even reported himself for mentioning other people names in an email he sends out each week. Well, the "law" may be interpreted diffrently around the EU since I haven't heard of it from any other country. BTW: Or what do you mean with "o_O"? I also hope you (or anyone else) didn't take any offence about my (small) comment on Israel. //Bernie To unsubscribe from SURVPC send a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with unsubscribe SURVPC in the body of the message.
