Kluge # 1

Why not try a SCSI drive.. it has it's own "on-board" Bios.

I had to do this, as I have an AMI Bios on one mutant-machine,
 and a deliberately-designed-to-be-non-upgradeable M-Board, with
 a Phoenix Bios, on another.

The S.C.S.I. Controller Card doesn't even show-up.
(In the Computers' Bios "Setup" screen, it says:

    "Drive C.. Not Installed" ;)

Kluge # 2

Yep, you can <try> to upgrade the Bios..

I have the "AMI Bios Programmers Manual"; and, "The Bios
Companion", by Phil Croucher; if you need specifics.

It's just a real pain, and there's always the chance that
you'll fry something a little-more important, like the cpu.

(Ah, but this is what we Listers live for...
The Thrill of Victory, and, the Agony of Defeat tm.)

I wound-up taking kluge # 1 above..

DC Drives (Dirt-Cheap Drives) had a special on it, from an
 advert in "Computer Shopper".

Regards, Gregory.
