On my Tandy 1000, I still use Tandy's Deskmate that was bundled with
it. It's not too bad. It has built in Address book, calendar,
corkboard, 'To-do list', Filer, Music, Paint, Draw, etc. Originally,
there were also a number of 3rd party apps that were designed to work
seamlessly with it, with the same user interface. I have Deskmate Q&A
Write, Lotus for Deskmate, and Financial Assistant, among others.
There was also a Deskmate version of Quicken.

Sometime in the late 80's, Deskmate received favorable reviews in 1 or
2 major magazines when compared to early Windows versions, but, er,
well, we all know what happened. 2 things really: the domination of
M$, and Tandy's failure to attain much credibility in the PC arena,
caused by their insistence on customizing their products too much.

Last I heard, a PC-generic version of Deskmate is still available for
sale at Radio Shacks.
