One of my brothers thinks so. He's doing his Ph.D. with a NewDeal
system (386-33, 8MB RAM), getting lots of use out of the database
and spreadsheet for his research, and writing some very nice-looking
reports which he sends off to professional journals and such.
But he did mention that the web browser just would not connect to his
ISP....
