My company just replaced win NT with a newer patched version, including I
think new versions of cmd.exe and command.com

As a result of the improvement, some of my favorite dos programs no longer
run in an NT dos box, for instance the program, readmail.exe, that I already
told this listserv about.

I would like to try running an older shell (e.g., command.com or cmd) in
this NT and see if the dos programs will run under an older shell. But I do
not know how to ``fool'' NT into thinking the version of these shells is
correct. NT does not have a program like setver. Any advice on how to run
old dos shells in new NT gui's ?
