I have a "AVerMedia TVCapture98" card, it works very good, but since my
room is a none-TV area (in the sense that every TV I take inside have worse
picture then anywhere else (including using it where I don't even have
cable)). My VCR was all jumpy on the picture but the TV card didn't mind
and showed everything fine.
I must warn you however that you'll need a GIGANTIC FAT32 drive (1 minute
in 1/2 of the TV (PAL) screen takes 250 - 350MB (can't remember) for me!)
Couldn't get it to work OK on capturing video in that mode if taken
directly from the cable, but if I recorded it to the VCR and later let it
play up (using the SCART) it was fine. But I often have problems with
getting it to work the first minute and so, and then it looses it's sync.
(I even managed to get two people (Shmi and Qui-Gon) to say each others
lines exactly.)
What I need now are:
1. A avi2mpg program (still looking for a good one)
2. Someway so I can watch the coded channels (shouldn't be that hard, but I
haven't even taken a look yet)
And this card is supposed to work OK in Linux as well (with or without
X-Windows) but that will be a later experiment.
