MS and Intel are THE standards here. No other are availble.
(unless you know where to dig... and usually, there is no support
for alternatives later.)
You use original Intel computers only, with NT if you run a server,
or 98 if you are a home user. Office 9x for all your word processor
and other related things, Solitaire and Mine Sweeper have generated
quite a fan base since Windows 3.x. Internet Explorer 4 is what
you use for the internet, although there is quite a precentage
that is "still" using Netscape either because they are
"still" on 95, or just dont know how to replace it.
The "known" alternatives are Linux and Apple. Apple almost do not
exist here, thought the iMacs do get some attention latly.
(the price here of an iMac cost more then an Intel computer..)
Linux is begining to get attention in buisness magazines.
By the way, embadded devices companies will normally use CE.
AMD have just started to try and get into the market here.
I dont really think that they got a chance this year, especialy
since Intel is now getting ALOT of hype because they just opened
up a new Intel factory here with the help of the goverment,
that should "help to reduce the unemployment".
We'll just have to watch and see.
