In article <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> you write:

Dunno what that last bit means, but the screen reader compatibility
pretty much takes out direct screen writing so the interface is reduced
to a single full screen display. It can work OK, but it makes multiple
sessions hard to track. When I was doing the VI version for YAN I even
had to strip out the status lines, but then once you get over three
sessions it's quite hard to monitor them and you have the problem that,
say, multiple FTP sessions look very much alike.

Yes, KA9Q and it's variations are still in quite widespread use in the
UK.

Only needs a serial and a packet interface for all that and anything
serious will have those.

Pah, we're not talking DOS then ! I'm one of those purists who consider
that if you need an extension you're no longer in DOS and you'd be far
better off using an OS designed with flat memory.
Even EMS/XMS doesn't help much.

Fast is easy, but excellent is in the eye of the beholder. The sight of
their webpages displayed by my browse function often makes the page
authors either puke or get murderous, but I think they look fine :)

Another eye of the beholder thing. I've never been impressed with
Nettamer so either my standards are higher or just weirder :)

> * Has RESUME/mirrror search support for it's FTP function

Resume yes, but I don't even know what the other bit means.

No.

No, well, maybe HTTP 1.1.

> * Has built-in Telnet, IRC, and ICQ functions.

Telnet, yes.

Stick to plain old free, it saves complications.

> Sounds impossible? Oh well, I might be daydreaming... <BG>

Not at all impossible, but perhaps unlikely. We'd never agree on what
was needed and an "all things to all men" will never exist. Still, it's
fun to fantasize :)
The only way you'll get exactly what you want is to write it yourself and
there's a special buzz from using something which sings your song.
