There's a project called Dozilla, guess what they're trying to
do. I don't know about there current status, I haven't heard from
them for at least year.

There's a Linux programm (yes, again :) called wget that is truly
worth porting. It has excellent capabilities of restoring both
ftp and http transfers. It can grab whole directory trees, it
can recursivly follow HTML links and a whole bunch of other cool
things.
