.gif format only supports a maximum of 256 colours.
Youcould use .jpg format instead, which is hi-colour, and
supported by a lot of browsers.
But, graphics look less than best in browsers anyway, so
the quality difference on the web page for the 256 colour
gif is not as noticeable as you'd think.
