No more DOS in Windoughs?

Well ... let's see ...

There will still be a directory structure, there
will still be a file system, there will still be
"system" calls, it's still running on an x86,
and the API will have to be well enough documented
for people to write sophisticated apps.

Sounds like an opportunity for someone to write
a shell that can service DOS apps in a virtual
machine.  I know of another product, U/WIN, which
provides a POSIX-compliant *nix environment under
all flavors of 32-bit windows, complete with
command line processing and scripting.

Such a shell would, of course, be coded to be
portable to OTHER high-performance 32-bit OS
environments (like BeOS, *nix, your-brand-here).

Of course there's always the VMware solution,
where a thin VM is first to boot, and supports
whatever OSes (plural) you want on top of it.

Assuming, of course, that running Windoughs is
important to you ...
