Fascinating story, David, I appreciated the glimpse into "sneaker net"
operation!
I am certain the brilliant folks on this list will have a number of options
for you.
Me, I just wanted to say, Hey guys that hate Doze and don't understand why
it's there, these guys David has to cope with demonstrate why.
You'd think by now they'd recognize that going out and spending a grand on
a few newer used computers would be worthwhile, they could put a small
LAN together out of 386's and have a nice little system on win3.11 or
Linux, or O/S2 or possibly even DOS. But, they don't even get past the
mechanical interfacing (keyboard)!!!
It was people like this that windows was tailored to attract, you don't
HAVE to learn anything, not even much of typing, to use win98, just move
that little thingy around with your hand and push the buttons.
Now, you may not like it, but it's brought computers to a whole lot of
people that otherwise would still be operating like David's office. For
that, M$ must get credit.
OTOH, cute tricks to defraud the public, like intel's difference between
the 486 dx and sx still grate on one's moral sensibilities.....
Okay, nuff said.
