Well, the first thing I try is to call the ROM BASIC (INT 18h) - on non-IBM
machines it doesn't exist and causes Something To Happen.  My AMI machines
all go into a beeping loop and print 'NO ROM BASIC SYSTEM HALTED', while the
Phoneix 286 would go 'boot error - Press F2 for setup, F1 to continue' -
apparently it used that interrupt as a generic boot failure, as that's what
IBMs did.

It should be possible to look at the ROM BIOS code itself and see if it has
a setup program itself.
