A propos "abandoned legacy tools": I can think of an at least semi-legal
solution - I can set up the thing in question on my www place *without*
making it accessible directly/openly as a download link.
This way, someone who needs to "lend" it can mail me privately, get the
direct d/l address, and access it - as I do not (necessarily) have a
copy (always) "residing" on my system, who could reproach me "lending"
the original copy quite legally ? (;'))
(Which may be a question to any patent/licence text hair clivers at the
same time, perhaps.)
