I think there are several others: netmail, umteen versions of
Ka9q, even Arachne.

However, this includes a dialer, packet drivers (epppdd.exe,
c/slipper), smtp, pop, nntp, spooler to create/unpack SOUP
packets, htget, a version of Ka9q NOS, and various scripts
and utilities for setting up and running these and other
TCP/IP applications.
And if you've seen the author's comtool program, which is
under 4K, I think it would be hard to accuse him of writing
"bloatware". (It still comes with Arachne). I use pc_pine
occasionally for IMAP. The executable itself (pine.exe) is
over 1M and it uses up almost all of conventional memory.
Now that's bloatware!
Anyway, as far as UKA_PPP is concerned, once you've loaded
a packet driver and configured wattcp.cfg, for SMTP all you
need is tcpport.exe (35K) and x_mail.exe (60K). Likewise for
POP all you need is tcpport and x_pop.exe (65K). If you know
what you're doing you can use them without the scripts.

A fine program, but it only does mail. UKA_PPP can also do NNTP
(fetch/post) using tcpport and x_news.exe (90K).
[Aside: I use tcpport and conex (terminal program) to do Zmodem
over telnet.]

I believe that SMTPOP12 is actually recommended for use with
DOS Pegasus. In this case there is no catch.

Without trying to belittle your efforts, if you look at the
UKA_PPP package you'll see that x_spool.exe (50K) can be used to
create/unpack SOUP packets for use with Yarn for both mail and
news.

While I'm happy using UKA_PPP, it might be useful to have a
set of scripts to convert the various e-mail formats so that
they can be used with different programs.
