Hi list,

I read this message in a newsgroup a while back, and although it is somehow
a commercial posting, I am letting the whole list know, as many of us are
blind, and these days DOS programs are somehow being hard to find.

If the following is pure junk and no one is interested, please press Delete
and sorry for your time wasted.

If this is too much off-topic, please accept my apologies.

                             COMPUTER PROGRAMS

The following is a list of DOS-based speech-friendly
computer games and utilities which we have designed to work
especially well with any speech synthesizer. These programs do
not require any specialized, modern equipment to run
satisfactorily.

All programs are mailed on a 3.5 inch high density floppy
disk, unless otherwise specified. We offer a discount to anyone
purchasing many computer programs. For every four programs you
purchase, you will receive an additional program of your choice
free of charge. Please note that Talking Typing Teacher cannot be
selected as a free program.

Talking Typing Teacher. I Can See Books now offers a wonderful
new program, a talking typing teacher with built-in speech! This
amazing program has over 20 different options, ranging from
simple drills to harder spelling words, as well as a couple of
fun games to play when you are tired of learning to type. Best of
all, TTT has its own built-in speech, the friendly man's voice of
Eager Eddie. Wherever you are in TTT, be it in a menu or a drill,
Eager Eddie will tell you what to type and what your options are.

COMPUTER GAMES FOR ALL AGES

The following is a list of the computer games we have to
offer which can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. Best of
all, the rules of each original game have been carefully retained
in the electronic version of the program.

Battle Ship. This strategy game requires much thought and
concentration. Each player is presented with a grid containing
one-hundred squares, on which five boats are strategically
placed. Your goal is to defeat the other player's fleet before
your opponent sinks yours! You can even play against the
computer, with 3 different skill levels! Complete with over fifty
real-life sounds, you will find it virtually impossible to leave
this game alone! $25.

Dominos. You can now play the famous game of dominos on the
computer! In order to win, you must be the player with the most
points when the game finishes.. In order to do this, you must
play as many dominos as possible that add up to five, ten, or
fifteen. Then, when someone runs out of dominos, the computer
evaluates your points and decides who wins! $20.

Monopoly. The world-renowned game involving buying and selling
properties, renting houses and hotels, paying income tax, and
choosing chance and community chest cards is now incorporated
into a speech-friendly computer game! Please note that this
version of Monopoly allows only two players. $25.

Uno. This delightful card game is fun and easy to play for all
ages. Your goal is to have played all of your cards before your
opponent gets a chance to win. Draw two, wild and wild draw four
cards ensure that there is never a dull moment while playing this
game. And the computer knows all the rules! $20.

Word Maker. This interesting game starts out by presenting two
players with 3 letters each. The program keeps picking letters
until a word is made. Then the program starts over, randomly
picking a new set of letters. The first one to make ten words
wins! $20.

FUN, EDUCATIONAL CHILDREN'S GAMES

All of the computer games presented in this section are fun
to play and extremely educational. Each game has a specific
educational purpose which incorporates learning and fun into an
amazing blend of hilarity and suspense that makes the child want
to keep playing without his or her even realizing what valuable
things he or she is learning. Games such as the Balloon Game
teach keyboard and computer readiness skills. Such word games as
The Phonics Game, Spell It and Learning the Alphabet help the
child learn his or her alphabet in a fun and exciting fashion.
And, finally, Teacher's Assistant, Story Maker and Computer Quiz
help to teach the child valuable skills and information
concerning English and history.

Balloon Game. This is an exciting game of chance. The goal is to
blow up a huge balloon without popping it. This user-friendly,
interactive game, complete with many realistic, hilarious audio
clips, introduces such common mishaps as having someone step on
the balloon, week rubber and not enough money to buy the package
of balloons. $25.

Computer Quiz. This educational game has quizzes on anything from
the sinking of the Titanic to famous cities all over the world.
Complete with numbered questions and letter-chosen answers, this
game is a fun, educational program to enjoy! $15.

Count the Sounds. This terrific preschool game has thirty
different sounds. It plays each sound a certain number of times,
and then waits for the child to press the number corresponding
with the number of times the sound played. All sounds have been
chosen with care, and are guaranteed to both interest and catch
the child's attention! $25.

Guess my Number. This program is an interesting mind game for
children and adults alike. The goal is to guess the number picked
by the computer in as few guesses as possible. Two very popular
features of this program are that it allows either one or two
players, and that you can tell the computer between which numbers
to pick the number you are trying to guess! $15.

Guess the Sound. This program is a truly fantastic one, giving
players the opportunity to guess at and identify over two dozen
sounds. For younger children, there are menus and choices for
selecting the correct answer, and older players are asked to type
it in. With sounds ranging from birds to a car horn that are
easily recognisable, players of all ages are sure to love this
game! (Please note that a sound card must be used with this
program.) $20.

Learning the Alphabet. This program is great for kindergartners.
It asks the child to press the letter of the alphabet that comes
directly after the letter displayed. For example, the program
asks, "What letter comes after A?" When the child types B, the
computer plays a tune and moves on. $20.

Phonics Game. This is a great game for children in kindergarten
and the primary grades. The child can type in the beginning,
middle or ending letter of the three-letter word presented. You
can even change the data file containing the one-hundred words
the program presents and the number of words the child is asked
during one session! $20.

Spell It. This game is excellent for children learning to spell.
It has twenty-six common, easy-to-spell words, 1 for each letter
of the alphabet. After the word has been spelled correctly, a
different word of congratulations is offered and an ever-varying
tune is played on the computer to encourage the child. $20.

Story Maker. This fun multimedia game is designed to allow the
child to make up crazy and hilarious one-sentence stories. The
child selects one of six different fraises from one of each of
the five sentence parts. Then, the child will enjoy listening to
the upbeat, enthusiastic man's voice reading the sentence he or
she has picked out on the computer. The program can even randomly
pick a sentence for the child to listen to! Story Maker is
excellent in helping the child to understand the various parts of
the sentence and how to make sentences with proper and regular
nouns, verbs, subjects and predicates. $20.

Teacher's Assistant. This program is wonderful for children who
enjoy learning on the computer, or for parents who wish to help
their children reinforce skills that are being taught in school.
There are three main menus, dealing with math, language, and
spelling. Some of the highlights you will find in Teacher's
Assistant are guessing the answers to riddles, identifying
antonyms and synonyms, and counting tones. Upon exiting each
option, the child is given his or her score of how many questions
were answered correctly and incorrectly. $20.

                                 UTILITIES

The utilities listed in this section have been designed and
written to work exceptionally well with any speech synthesizer.
In addition, they include just as many, if not more, features and
options than any commercial utilities on the market designed for
the storage and retrieval of addresses, simplification of math
and science formulas, and so forth. These programs have been
written with speed and ease in mind, and we feel sure that all of
these programs will make many tedious tasks that you used to have
to do by hand a whole lot easier.

Address Keeper. This is an extremely innovative, full-featured
electronic address book, packed with features you've probably
never even seen before. New features include dial phone number,
copy an address and search for an address by typing in ANY line
of the desired entry. $25.

DOS Made Easy. This fantastic menu-driven program has all the
commands that you use in MS-DOS built into a powerful and simple
package, taking all the complicated switches and commands and
building them into a series of simplified menus. You can even
quickly and efficiently create a menu of your own for programs
that you use every day! $25.

Electronic Clock. This useful program chimes every fifteen
minutes. Electronic Clock is handy for keeping track of time and
turns your computer into a virtual clock anytime you choose. The
chimes are similar to the famous BIG BEN clock, and make great
background noise. $20.

Electronic Tunes. This fun program allows you to compose tunes on
the computer. It works just like a piano or an organ, only it has
more features, such as pitch set and length of notes. $20.

Home Page Generator. This fantastic new program is a must-have
for anyone that is considering creating or updating a web page.
In the past, this task was often difficult to do, because one
either had to master HTML code or use a creator that wasn't
speech friendly. Not now! Home Page Generator is fully menu-
driven, with full support for forms, E-mail and reference links,
inserting files, and much, much more! $25.

Math Formulas. Are you sick and tired of trying to remember
hundreds of long and complicated mathematical and science
formulas? Have you ever wished that you could just type in one or
two important numbers and your computer could slave over finding
your answer in a fraction of the time you'd spend finding it,
without your even having to know the many clumsy steps that must
be followed? Worry no more! Math Formulas is an extremely
powerful program especially designed to compute all ranges of
formulas--from the simplest Celsius-Fahrenheit temperature
conversions to the more complicated square root and exponent
calculators. $25.

Phone Utilities. This useful program converts phone numbers with
letters to straight numbers for dialling. The program can even
play the phone number, as it would sound on the touch-tone
telephone keypad. $15.

Remember Dates. This fast, easy-to-use program keeps track of all
dates you want your computer to tell you about at start-up, or
when you type the program's name. It is as simple as typing in
your dates and events and waiting for the computer to tell you
about them. You can even have the program tell you how old
someone is today! $20.

Reminder. This quick and efficient program keeps track of all the
things you want to do on your computer but never seem to have
time to do when you think of them. Whenever you restart your
computer, however, the program reminds you of the things that
should be done. There are even options to show when the reminder
was added and a feature called SOUND ALERT, as well as choices to
add and delete certain reminders. And there is no limit on how
many reminders you can set! $15.

Text Reader. This is the most powerful and speech-friendly text
reader that has ever been released! This exciting new program
will read any text file, displaying it on the screen one page at
a time. Its most exciting features are the speed at which it
functions and the wealth of options it boasts. Not only is there
a status line showing what file you are viewing and what percent
you have read, but you can even set a bookmark to quickly find
your place again. Setting a bookmark in an ASCII-text file is
something that you have never been able to do in a text reader
before! $20.

World Time. Have you ever wondered what time it is in Athens,
Greece? Are you planning a trip to London, England, but don't
know what time you should plan to arrive? Or, are you just
thinking about calling someone on the West Coast and don't want
to get them out of bed at 4 in the morning? With just a few
keystrokes, World Time will instantly tell you what time it is
anywhere in the world. This program even takes into account
Daylight Savings time, in both your location and in the city you
are inquiring about! $25.
