If you're talking about SOSS, it does work. I've got it running
on my home network to provide NFS from my DOS machine to my Linux
machine. The only fishhook is that SOSS runs in the foreground
so you can't do anything else on the DOS machine while it is
serving.
If anyone is interested in setting up SOSS, let me know. It's
relatively easy to set up when you know how, but the lack of
sensible instructions make it a real bitch to figure out when
you don't know what you're doing.
