Hmmm...didn't remember their were some differences with the HX -
not a 100% compatible machine.
I dunno - PLIP may take up a parallel port - but I don't think
that makes it any less "real" as a networking interface. But if
you want Ethernet, it's August, gotta be some garage/yard/rummage
sales out there were you might find a working 8 bit card for a few
bucks. And I know that Goodwill and maybe Salvation Army (two of
my favorite clothing outlets when I'm stateside) are starting to
sell used computer equipment in some places.
I guess I need to give it a go myself - the old XT is in the
storeroom collecting ants and who-knows-what else....
BTW, I also pulled some DOS Network File Server software off of
Simtel a while back (was under DOS and then NFS) - dunno if it
will run on your machine - but it could be useful for networking a
bunch of this class machine.
