I have one part that I could seriously use, and a couple more that'd be
nice to have to play with but aren't vital.

I have put my Tandy 1000 EX back to work at Work. One of our officers
is using it, basically just to read text files. (What's -in- the text
files is another topic entirely.)

He asked me the other day if he could print out stuff, and I told him
yes, if I could find the big ugly printer cable I used to have for the
thing. No luck. I think it got lost when I moved. Anybody got one or
know where I might find one? The big, heavy black printer cable with
the edge-card connector on one end. I sure wish I hadn't lost the one I
had.

Other stuff that'd be nice to have for that machine, would be about
anything that'd plug into the internal card slots -- the modem (1200
BPS, was it?), or the external harddrive -- or was the EX the one that
couldn't have a hard drive? I forget.

I also have my Zenith Data Systems Z180-92 laptop, on which I'm typing
this message. Years ago I found a company where I could order new
battery packs, Fedco Electronics, but they're long gone. Suggestions,
anyone -- other than the obvious "doorstop?"

I had my boss using this machine, again for reading text files, but my
Compaq bit the dust last night when some idiot decided to try to fix it.
The idiot was me. <g>

There also used to be an external (probably 20 meg) harddrive for this
beast. Anybody got one?

I could probably get a little use (oddly enough) out of the internal
modem, which I believe was 1200 bps. That was the most common speed
back in that era.

Since I got the machine when it was abandoned by the local University, I
also got all the manuals and such, and if there's info you need, just
holler. Or am I the only ZDS diehard?

Another question, while I'm thinking about it. Back When, you used to
be able to get an adaptor to allow plugging a VGA monitor into a CGA
controller. Both the Zenith and the Tandy are CGA machines. Can anyone
suggest an Old Junk website where I can order one? Anybody got the
plans for one? I know 9 pin male on one end, 15 pin female on the
other, but from there I'm stuck. Wonder if I want to risk tinkering
based on pinout diagrams? I think I have some here somewhere....
