I'm with Constant,
I would love to hear the opinion of some other experts. The fact
that my source is a power-supply person gives him a great deal of
credibility with me. But I also believe in the rule of "2 or 3
witnesses."
On the other hand, the fact that everybody uses UPS's doesn't
prove the opposite. History is full of examples wherein
"everyone" has been wrong.
But I asked the question in the first place because I haven't
heard any other comments about this. And if it is so, I would
think somebody else would know.
And if it is so, we should ALL know as well in order to avoid
merrily tripping down the garden lane....
