Besides missing the 'b' (trump106b.zip) one could always go straight
to Trumpet's site (ftp.trumpet.com and/or ftp.trumpet.com.au?).
I used to use Trumpet for checking some light traffic newsgroups
between my regular Net-Tamer readings but my current ISP gives
Trumpet the fits. Incompatibility with the news server or something.
My account expires probably today so I'll do some yick-yacking here
before that happens.
I once emailed the author of Trumpet News and he told me there were plans
to upgrade it (it's in serious need of that) but that was almost two
years ago. Safe to assume that won't happen?
Was the author Peter Tattam? (not in DOS right now so...)
I'd love to see them release the source to the program. It would be an
ideal starting point for a nice stand-alone NNTP newsreader.
An item that has always been lacking in the DOS world.
If they had just added the ability to sort the messages I probably
would've used it more. Adding offline capability would really
make it easier to deal with.
Well, I'm off to do some ISP hunting (bogus when you don't have money,
eh?)
