I have an old datatrain 386 I want to get running. I've found a setting
that is atleast the right size and was able to format the drive and install
DOS6.22, but I cannot boot from it. I get a configuration error in
CMOS. Yeah, I know, i tell it, you don't have the hard drive properly
defined as to c/h/s know why? It Wont Let Me! I can't find a way to
custom define the drive, even though there's an "empty" spot in the list,
and I cant find a definition with the correct cylinders, sectors and heads.
What's more ironic, is this drive came with this machine!
For now you can boot to floppy, then run a path statement to switch it over
to c drive but it's cumbersome and not all functions will work properly.
What should I do? I'll be looking into whether it's a flashable bios but I
don't think it is. Don't suggest purchases of any sort as I'm financially
bereft at this time and won't likely see a livable income for some time.

Failing for having moved too fast sets you back farther than caution would
have.
