It is perfectly legal to import both new and old computers and there are no
duties on either of them! In fact, the Pakistan Government has been very
generous with regard to personal computers. Except for a short period when
there a small duty, there has never been any duty or restrictions on
personal computer. No wonder, we are quite ahead of most developing
countries, even India!
Till a few months ago, only up to two years old personal computer could be
imported. Event that restriction is gone.
So, Bernie, I shall be grateful if you could tell about possible sources for
used computers (486 and over), preferably as donations, from the US or any
other country.

Is it illegal to get them inside Pakistan (Pakistan law) or to get them out
from the US to Pakistan (US law)?
And yes it often cost very much to send heavy things far. I read in a paper
about this guy who bought laptops for a school in China instead of normal
computers since that would cost him more.
