Hey Mrl Virginia, USA, check out the fax machine, talk to its vendor/manuf.
Mine is an ancient Ollivetii. It has a parrale port in the back so I can
hook it up directly to the computer. That way I can even use it as a
sscanner -ie fax myself something. There are many different progs out there
to do what you want and someone a whole lot better than I will tell you.
What I am suggesting is investigate what you have right now. You may not
even need the special lsoftware or hook ups.
