Dear Detailboy,
Your guesses are correct - Bob never really caught on. I think that
it was due to a combination of factors:
- silly name
- extreme slowness
- lack of utility for advanced users
Bob was okay for a very beginning user, but it really didn't provide
the control needed for intermediate or advanced users. There just
weren't enough ways to customize it to support new applications,
etc. And most applications never included support for Bob.
All in all, just not a great idea. Or at most, a mediocre
implementation of a mediocre idea.
