How about a few more blunt observations?
1. Networking OSes are best suited for professional use.
2. Windows NT is for mainstream networking weenies who just need an easy
job.
3. Linux is for serious networking pioneers who dare to think that something
can be done that's better than Microsoft.
4. "Ordinary" Windows is for people who hate computers but need to use them
anyway.
5. DOS is for people who like computers, don't necessarily have a lot of
money to throw away at them, but want to do something worthwhile with them
anyway, and who are basically bored and/or tired with Windows.
Take 'em or hate 'em, those points are what I consider to be the current
status of the whole ugly mess.
