What sort of sound card does the emulator expect? Maybe it's looking for
something simple like the Adlib, which might be available under DOS. Or it
might be directly messing with the OPL synth chips somehow - the card in
this machine only seems to have the simple OPL-based syntheriser available
under DOS.
