I think Win9x dual boot is tied to MS-DOS, and then only v6 (maybe 5).
IIRC, PC-DOS and DR-DOS will cause the error 'No previous version of MS-DOS
was installed' or somesuch MS crap. Keep a PC-DOS boot disk with SYS onhand
before installing, and have a go would be my suggestion...

DR-DOS allows you to give the IBMBIO.COM and IBMDOS.COM files different
extensions (e.g. IBMBIO.DR and IBMDOS.DR), which you could then plumb into
LOADER.TXT or whatever the LOADER configuration file is. Check the SYS /?
output for more, but backup your bootsector before trying it so you can
restore that before installing LOADER. When used in this mode, DR-DOS
should use DCONFIG.SYS and AUTODOS7.BAT instead of CONFIG.SYS and
AUTOEXEC.BAT
