no coms 3 or 4, only 1 and 2
modem is external, not internal and plugged into serial port.
Someone elsewhere has pointed me to the VIA chipset on this
motherboard. It is a very touchy set and needs the proper drivers so I've
just downloaded the driver upgrade for it and we shall see if that fixes my
difficulty, it is one thing that has not been attended to anyway.
I can also try MSD although other utilities to test have shown no problem
except that the modem will not respond. The computer thinks the modem is
no good and the modem thinks the computer is no good!
I will let you know how the chipset driver upgrade works.
