Hi there.  I've an old thinkpad.  Just get a really soft cloth. An old piece of 
flannel is wondrous.
Then just barely dampen the cloth with water. (it should be nowhere _near_ dripping), 
then wipe your
screen carefully to clear the smudges, etc.
 If there's grit or something on the screen, try blowing off some of it first, or 
patting the screen with a soft
cloth first.
