THere is a version of lynx out there that runs onplain DOS, wchich should work on a 
486.
Then there is a version for Windows 95, which if you have Windows 95 will run on a 486 
if it's one of
the faster 486s.
   You might want to have a look at these web browsers, though:
For DOS, look at Arachne.
 http://home.arachne.cz/
For Windows look at Opera.
 http://www.opera.com
  Both of these browsers are generally faster than Netscape. (much as I like Netscape, 
I'm using Opera
on my 486s)
