Well, given that it's NOT as fast and stable as the original progman.ini,
there IS no appeal. Conceptually, it offered easier file handling, easier
desktop management, and more user configurable appearance. Personally
I've never liked the stuff cluttering my desktop, but the w9x style
interface is less cluttered than the w3x interface just the same. I like
to have NO icons, just a couple popup menus to access all, and some nice
art to look at when I'm between programs.
Still, from my brief excursion with Calmira, I'd say that if you have the
resources to run it, you don't need to because you can run the 32 bit w9x
instead. It's tough to find w3x software. If yer gonna run windows, you
might as well run the newest your hardware can, and be free to access all
the neato stuff that is available out there.
