Found it. At last! When I sent my request to the list I had given up
searching for it. It is surprising what a good nights sleep can do to
you <g>. Long story short: IBM have divided their searchable
announcement archive in two segments, one for "current" announcements
- running back to 1994. The other for announcements from the
period 1983-1993. Now since PC-DOS 6.3 have file dates set to Dec
1993 (or the copy I have does) - I assumed the announcement was made
in 1993, just prior. Also, yesterday I searched for "PC-DOS" with a
hyphen. It gave many hits, several pages, but not what I was looking
for. This morning I tried "PC DOS", without the hyphen, which
provided. If anyone wants to have a look (why do I get the feeling
this is not the case <g>) the URL is ( on one line of course - no
blank spaces)
