This really isn't very much of a survivor PC issue, but one can say that
it is a question about survivor software. I just got my shiny new computer
up and running and discovered much to my chagrin that I had one of the
dreaded WinModems on my system. My much loved Pmail for Dos and Arachne web
browser would no longer work, not even in a dos box. Ok, I know WinModems
are junk, and I can always rip it out and install a real modem. The
question: is there anyone out there who has written some kind of win modem
driver so that the modem can be used in Dos without windows98 loaded. Such
a project is far beyond the reach of this amature programmer (Qbasic 4.5)
Does such a thing exist as freeware/shareware?
PS: Is it just me or is the Arachne list defunct? I haven't received
anything from the list in quite a while.
